Types of Massage
Deep Tissue Massage

Add Deep Tissue to your massage for only $10 per hour! Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling with your Massage Therapist.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage incorporates a variety of massage techniques to relax muscles by applying pressure against them to the deeper muscles and bones. The therapist gently glides and strokes in the same direction of the blood returning to the heart to increase circulation and blood flow. This increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles. Though it increases blood flow, it does not increase heart load. Since Swedish massage flushes tissue of lactic acid, uric acid and other wastes your body produces, it also shortens recovery time from muscular strain. We recommend Swedish massage for the client who wishes to have a regular regimen of massage for stress management, and to anyone who is receiving massage for the first time.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is often a regiment designed between you and your therapist to increase flexibility, alleviate stress and tension that is associated with physical activity. The massages can be performed before, during or after the your sporting event to increase performance, decrease fatigue, relieve swelling and muscle tension, and to prevent injuries. Sports massage is great for athletes of all types.

Prenatal Massage

There are many benefits to receiving massage therapy during pregnancy. Massage will ease pain in the lower back, pelvis and in load bearing joints as your pregnancy progresses. It also increases circulation, helps with digestion and reduces fatigue. Massage promotes skin elasticity and reduces swelling in the ankles, feet, and hands.

Pregnancy massage is performed while the expectant mother is on her side. The therapist will prop her up using soft pillows under the right hip to make sure blood flow to the baby is not interrupted. The expectant mother can also opt to be worked on while lying on her back. We advise that the expectant mother talk to her doctor first, as with anything, before the massage. It is imperative that the therapist is aware that she is pregnant. Women experiencing high risk pregnancy should be aware of the risks involved before booking her appointment.

Trigger Point Massage

Trigger Points are the areas of your muscles that are tender. Trigger point therapy is a technique that applies pressure to those tender points to relieve pain and restore proper function to other parts of the body. Pain associated with trigger points is the most common cause for pain in the work place.

Premium Massage Choices & Upgrade Options
Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage incorporates black volcanic stones, heated in water from 120 to 150 degrees, with a swedish or deep tissue massage. The therapist warms up the body with swedish massage, then uses a hot stone to massage the client. Your massage therapist will often place stones on different parts of the body, along the spine, on the palms, on the belly or even between the toes to increase energy flow. Hot Stone Massage at Wellness WORx is one of our premium massage services and lasts 90 minutes.

Deep Heat Therapy

Wellness WORx now offers Deep Heat Therapy as an add-on to any massage that is 1 hour or longer. A deep heat therapy upgrade consists of an extremely hot & moist hydrocollator pack that is heated in near boiling water and wrapped in towels and applied to the area of your choice. Since this heat is a moist heat it penetrates very deep into the muscle tissue. Deep heat therapy add-on’s are great for getting to the source of tight and over-stressed muscles. You can choose to add the heat to your neck, upper back, or lower back.
